danke für Ihre Meinung. Hatten Sie schon die Gelegenheit, das WetterDisplay mal auszuprobieren? Wir verstehen, dass der Preis für Sie gute Gründe haben muss – und die hat er auch. Das Gerät ist für den Dauerbetrieb ausgelegt, ohne dass Sie sich noch um etwas kümmern müssen – anders als die von Ihnen vorgeschlagene Lösung mit günstigem Tablet und kostenloser WetterOnline-App:
1. Schutz vor Geisterbildern:
Particularly on inexpensive tablets, the display has no protection against image residue, so-called ghost images. If the app on the tablet shows the WeatherRadar map for many hours a day, inexpensive displays tend to age unevenly, which can significantly impair the display. The screen of our WeatherDisplay is durable and protected against ghost images. Intelligent mechanisms even renew the technical function of the display so that you can enjoy it for a long time.
2. Stromverbrauch:
Ein Tablet ist nicht darauf ausgelegt, dass es permanent in Benutzung ist. Mit der cleveren automatischen Helligkeitsabsenkung, einfach einzustellenden Betriebszeiten und der auf sparsamen Verbrauch ausgelegten Hardware des WetterDisplays sparen Sie wertvollen Strom. Der Stromverbrauch dürfte bei den meisten Tablets deutlich über den 6 Watt im Betrieb und den 0,15 Watt im Standby liegen, die das WetterDisplay braucht.
3. Dauerfunktion ohne Unterbrechung:
With a tablet app combination, there are always updates for both the operating system and the WeatherOnline app - the device then also indicates this. A tablet is also designed to display notifications from the installed apps. So there will always be some notifications obscuring the display of the WeatherRadar, which you will have to laboriously deactivate manually or in the depths of the settings. This can all be done, but it is not our idea of a device that you set up once and then simply works.
4. Dauerhaft werbefrei:
If you use the free WetterOnline app, you will see advertisements. This is how we finance the operation of the free app. With the WeatherDisplay, on the other hand, you can access our permanently ad-free service without ads distracting you from looking at the weather.
5. Flatrate für unsere hochwertige Prognose und Wetterdaten:
If you would like to use our app ad-free, this also costs a (small) monthly or annual fee. With our WeatherDisplay, you receive our forecasts and lots of other weather data - updated every minute and permanently free of charge.
In addition, your WeatherDisplay is constantly updated by us in the background and benefits from our ever-improving forecasts. As already mentioned, we do not make any more money with a subscription model, which is common for competitor products. We continue to have an independent product design and produce in smaller batches, so it's not a cheap off-the-shelf product. So it's an all-inclusive package with unbeatable service and no hidden costs.

Transparency note: In the first version of this answer, we referred to 'burn-in protection' when talking about protection against ghost images. This is not technically accurate, as ghost images or image residue on LCDs (liquid crystal displays, such as those often used in inexpensive tablets) tend to appear as a darkening caused by premature ageing of the individual pixels. Burn-in is more common in LED displays (Light Emitting Diode) or particularly old CRT screens, for example, which is why we initially used the term here to make it easier to understand.
